Countdown to Cook Island Open

This time next week we will be in Rarotonga to compete in the Cook Island Squash Open.

Training is going well, although my backhand seems to have taken a step back.  Thankfully my coach thinks it's an easy fix so that will be our focus over the next few days.

We've been working on drills, ghosting and of course game time. Bry and I have been alternating between par 11/15 sets, not sure what they do in Raro so best to prepare for both.

I quite like par 11, it makes you go hard from the first serve, no easing into it.  Definitely faster and less time to 'catch up' if you're the one behind...which is normally where I find myself haha.  In saying that, we've had some pretty awesome games, I've even snatched a few wins, which surprised my partner in crime. 😉

I'm feeling pretty good on court, must be the shakes I've been drinking the past two weeks, I'll save that for another blog.

Overall it's been a great few weeks getting into the zone but I'm most proud of the progress I'm making on court and with my fitness journey and transformation in general.  I came across a pic of myself, which caused my jaw to drop. I couldn't believe I was 'that' big.😱. It was taken almost two years ago and at the time, health wise I felt fine, overall.  Sure I found myself breathless at times but I was ok.

Looking at myself now, even though the work is far from done, I'm not sure how the hell I didn't notice the danger I was in.  How the hell did I manage to dodge serious health issues being that big?  Grateful I did and loving the changes I've made to get me to where I am today and even more excited about where I'll be tomorrow and beyond.

Thanks for all your support and love people.
