Fourth time lucky!

Fourth time lucky meaning the fourth time I've attempted to get back into my blog. My last attempt, back in September, was even titled ‘I’m back’…not quite though. Oh well, never mind I’m back now…for real. ;)

Thinking back to when I started this blog I remember how much fun I had ticking off things to do before I turned 40 and as I think about the year ahead for me I’m feeling pretty grateful for everything that has led me to now.

So what’s next? Well, on New Years day Bryan and I celebrated 20 years together and this March we will celebrate 16 years of marriage. We have a few things planned to celebrate our "Sweet 16" so watch this space!

This year is also Bryan’s last year in his 40s, he turns 49 this April, which I still find hard to believe. Exciting times ahead for him so we’ll definitely do some exciting things over the next year leading into the awesome milestone of 50!

I have an event which I will be speaking at next month so preparing my presentation and nailing that will be my priority over the next few weeks. One of my long term goals is to speak at a TED event so the The 4th Annual Public Sector, Women in Leadership Summit 2017 provides a perfect opportunity to take a step towards that goal. I look forward to sharing my preparation leading up to the event.

I’ve also decided that this is the year I will kick my 'habit' in the butt, yes that’s quit smoking. I started experimenting with smoking when I was about 13 years old so I guess it’s time to try something new. ;) I’ve tried once and I did really well, but clearly not well enough. I know that ultimately it comes down to wanting to and if I’m completely honest I just haven’t truly wanted to, just being honest!

The following might sound a bit silly but if I quit now, as in today, this minute, the challenge is over before it even started so to give myself more of a challenge I pledge to quit smoking once I’ve lost 27 kilos by 18 June, my birthday. I’ve chosen 27 as it’s the number of years I have smoked…geez that’s a long time. I know I can do this and I know I WILL! However, IF for whatever reason I don’t lose 27 kilos by 18 June I will still quit smoking and in addition I will donate $1339.20 to a charity, still to be decided. The amount of my donation is equivalent to two packets of cigarettes per week between now and my birthday. (I currently smoke 2 packets a week) Either way it’s going to be another awesome year of learning, growing, giving and making every day count.

I got my mojo back and I can’t wait to share my journey with you as I bust down more doors!

Love, light and all things bright from me to you x
